Description

Polebrook Oast is a building that includes stabling and storage, likely dating from the 18th century, with two early 19th century circular oasts. The storage area is constructed of red brick, featuring some weatherboarding on the west side, and has a steeply pitched tiled roof. The east front has four window openings, which include two louvred openings and two casements leading to a circular window on the ground floor. There is a brick chimney with two diagonally set flues. The west front features three cambered casements, double doors, and an external wooden staircase. The roof structure includes queen posts, staggered purlins, and arched braces, along with weatherboarded partitions. The ground floor stabling has 19th century stall partitions. Attached to the south is a single-storey wing, possibly from the 18th or early 19th century, with a hipped tiled roof and two casement windows. To the north are two early 19th century circular brick oasts that have many vitrified headers, a modillion eaves cornice, casement windows, cambered headed doors, and conical tiled roofs, which were without combs and fantails at the time of the survey.
