Description
The Pompeian Garden at Dyffryn House is an enclosed sunken garden designed in a strongly Italian Classical style, constructed from pre-cast concrete. It has a rectangular shape that narrows at the southeast end and is surrounded by a Doric colonnade, which has a roof at the northwest end. At the opposite end, there are paired columns marking the narrowest point of the garden, along with benches leading up to a pedimented doorway of a small shelter that faces down the length of the garden. In the center, there is a tall fountain featuring a fluted stem and a circular bowl. The garden was undergoing repair during the inspection in March 1995.
