Description
This is a long range of agricultural buildings from the 19th century, divided into four sections that step down the slope of the farmyard. Constructed from local grey rubble with slate roofs, the northern end features a former barn with attached lofted cartsheds on the right. The barn has a large doorway flanked by triangular buttresses, with slit vents on the sides and two large square former loading openings at the eaves.
To the right, the former cartshed section has two semi-circular windows on the upper level and two elliptical-arched doorways on the ground floor. The right gable includes two semi-circular windows on each level and stone steps leading up to a doorway with a boarded door. On the downhill side of the barn is the former stable block, which has two former doorways. Below the stable is a former shed with a doorway to the left, above which is the site of an iron wheel that was part of a power shaft used for feed cutters and other equipment. Below this is a long low cowhouse with a penthouse roof, featuring three windows under the eaves and four doorways.
Before its conversion, the barn already had a modern roof structure, with a massive beam in the cartshed, generally sawn joists, and pegged trusses in the shed. In 2002, the building was being converted into two separate dwellings.
