Description

Nant Bran Farmhouse is a Georgian farmhouse that has been rendered over local stone and painted, featuring a Welsh slate roof with rectangular rendered cross-ridge and end stacks. The building has two storeys. The main section of the house includes a three-window range of 12-pane sash windows set in reveals on the first floor, positioned at the eaves. There is a central wide gabled porch with a four-panelled front door and seats inside. To the left of the porch is a similar sash window, and to the right, there are two paired sash windows.

Beyond the chimney on the left, there is a bay of the same height with a casement window on the upper level and a doorway at ground floor level. The left gable features a casement window on the upper level and two similar windows on the lower level. On the right side, slightly set back, is a lower block with a 16-pane sash window at the eaves and a larger 16-pane sash window on the ground floor. There are attached stone walls leading to the yards.

At the rear, the central block has a two-window range of 16-pane sashes and a central doorway, along with a blocked segmental-arched doorway to the right. The stepped down end wing has similar sashes, and there are new first floor sash windows and ground floor casements in the uphill end wing.

The interior was modernised in the late 19th century, featuring contemporary carpentry such as panelled or boarded doors and a wooden staircase with turned balusters. It was further restored in 2002 with new render and ceilings, while still retaining the original layout, which includes a central entrance passage and a rear hall with stairs parallel to the frontage.
