Description

Penybryn House is a Georgian, symmetrical, two-storey building with three bays, constructed from coursed rubble. It features a plinth and an eaves band, a slate roof, and brick chimney stacks. The central bay has a pedimented gable with a circular 8-pane window. Below, there are 12-pane sash windows with voussoir lintels; the ground floor windows have lead cills and are set into tall arched recesses. The porch has slate coping, an arched entry with voussoirs and an impost band, and a recessed entrance with double 3-panel doors and a 5-pane fanlight.

The left gable end is made of rubble and has 6-pane sashes, along with a ground floor bay window at the back. To the left, there is a single-storey extension with a two-window range, finished in scribed cement render and featuring sash windows, while the right side has a small pane tripartite window. At the extreme left end, there is a garage attached at right angles. The right gable end is also rubble with small pane sashes, although the upper sash glazing bars have been removed on the ground floor.

Late Georgian iron railings, dating from around 1817 when the Holyhead road was constructed, extend along the terrace wall from The Old Farmhouse, with a similar gate across the drive at the right end. Inside, the house is partially modernised but retains original features such as panelled shutters and 6-panel doors, along with an arched recess in the Drawing Room to the left of the broad entrance hall.
