Description
Farmhouse and barn. The farmhouse dates primarily to the 16th century, with a mid-19th century eastern extension. Part of the 16th century building now forms the two-bay western part of the farmhouse, while the remainder is a barn. The picturesque 19th-century extension is half-timbered with plaster infill, features a steep tiled roof, and has an overhanging first floor supported by fluted round posts. The 16th-century section is weatherboarded with tiled roofs, and this style continues into the barn. The barn has fairly close-set timbers and queen post roof trusses, with a brick and stone foundation. A lean-to projection extends from the right-hand side, continuing around the west end. An aisle and hipped porch are located to the left. The 16th-century part is weatherboarded with tiled roofs. The buildings are part of a larger, deep U-shaped range of farm buildings, likely designed by George Devey, and form a picturesque group, with shelter sheds on the north side of the farmyard.
