Description

The Grove is a villa dating to circa 1840, designed by Decimus Burton and incorporating Gothic detailing. The building is two storeys high with a three-window facade on the main front, and a gabled bay on the left. It has a moderately pitched slate roof with ornamental bargeboards to the gable ends. The exterior is constructed of coursed freestone with a plinth. Windows are casement style, with some featuring pointed heads and others under hoodmoulds. A large, Gothic-traceried double door, with side lights and a four-centred arch, provides the main entrance. A conservatory is located to the left. The right return features a large, single-storey embattled canted bay. A similar square bay is present at the rear. Modern additions have been made to the back left of the building.
