Description
Salmons House is a timber-framed structure consisting of two parts built at right angles, with one section extending back from the gable end on the right. There is a modern extension on the left that is designed to be sympathetic to the original building. The house features tiled roofs and has exposed vertical framing with stout diagonal braces and plaster filling on the first floor at the back and on the ground floor at the front. The first floor also includes a 17th-century jettied porch located at the angle of the right wing. The exterior displays tile hanging and brickwork in other areas. The cross wing on the left, situated behind the modern extension, is likely the oldest part of the house, dating from the 16th century. On the right return, there is an early 17th-century oversailing gable supported by circular brackets, which has a two-storey canted bay below and a chimney stack with coupled diagonal shafts. The windows are modern leaded casements set in old oak frames.
