Description

Skipreed is likely a 16th-century timber-framed house, although it has undergone considerable alteration and extension. It is a two-storey and attic building with three windows, presenting an irregular facade. The roof is steeply pitched and half-hipped, covered in tiles. The first floor is tile-hung, while the ground floor is constructed of 19th-century red brick with a decorative pattern of blue headers. A ridge stack, featuring old, narrow bricks and a central arched recess, rises from the roof. The windows are mostly 19th- and 20th-century leaded casements. A 19th-century door is situated in a small, modern porch. Left-hand lean-to extensions have been added. The rear elevation is similar in appearance but features a large, modern square dormer window that detracts from the original character. Visible timber framing remains inside the house. A back door is sheltered by a gabled lead hood supported on brackets.
