Description

Cherry Cottage and Spoke Shave is a 16th century or earlier hall house that has undergone alterations. It is a two-storey building with five windows, displaying an irregular facade. The roof is very steeply pitched and tiled, with a half-hipped section on the right-hand side and one gabled dormer window. Chimney stacks are located at each end. The front elevation is tile hung, with brickwork visible below the ground floor cills on the right-hand portion of the building, which is known as Cherry Cottage. Casement windows, a mix of 19th century and modern designs with leaded and square panes, are present. A modern gabled wooden porch serves Cherry Cottage. A back entrance to Spoke Shave is located within a long, pent-roofed extension at the rear. Significant exposed timberwork is visible inside.

Cherry Cottage and Spoke Shave, together with the Rock Public House and a barn to the east of the Rock Public House, form a notable group.
