Description

Wat Stock is a 15th-century hall house that has been altered in the 16th, 17th, and 19th centuries. It is two storeys and has an attic, with three windows. The roof is very steeply pitched and tiled, with a half-hipped right side and a compound ridge stack. The front shows sturdy square timber framing with plaster infill on the first floor. The ground floor is largely red brick, with some blue headers, mostly from the 19th century, but including some older bricks. A prominent, early 17th-century gabled projection is located slightly left of centre, featuring moulded bargeboards and a pendant. The attic part oversails on a moulded beam. A five-light window below has moulded mullions and transoms; a moulded beam is also visible on the first floor. Other windows are 18th-century and modern casements. Inside, plank and muntin dais panelling remains, along with an elaborately moulded beam above.
