Description

The Main Lodge Entrance at Knole Park, dating from the early 19th century, consists of a pair of single-storey lodges connected by ornamental cast iron gates. Each lodge is a small square building featuring two sash windows, flat projecting eaves, and gutters with exposed joists beneath the soffits. The roofs are hipped and covered with Welsh slate, with central stacks. The buildings are constructed from coursed local stone with flint infilling in the mortar joints, and they include ashlar elements. The windows are set within recessed panels that are divided by three panelled divisions or pilasters.
