Description
No 2 High Street is a building dating from the 18th century, with 19th-century additions including a bay window and porch, and modern rendering. It features a three-window facade across two storeys, topped with an 18th-century flat modillioned cornice and a concealed leaded gutter. The roof has ridge tiles and three flat-roofed leaded dormers, with end brick stacks. The centre of the building has a projecting stucco porch supported by square corner pilasters, with a moulded entablature and cornice. On either side of the porch are square, projecting bays that rise two storeys and contain large, square-paned modern casement windows on both floors. Above the porch, there is an 18th-century sash window. Historically, Charles Dickens lodged at this house when he visited Sevenoaks.
