Description
15 High Street is a building dating back to 1614, originally an inn but now divided into three houses. It features a 16th century or earlier timber-framed structure with a two-storey, two-bay facade. The prominent central gable projects and is adorned with fishscale tile-hanging on the first floor, which over-sails the ground floor. On either side of the gable are supporting wings with plain tile hanging on the first floor. The roof has continuous ridge tiles, is half-hipped to the left, and has a ridge stack to the left of the central gable.
The ground floor displays exposed vertical framing with brick infilling. To the left is a plain boarded cottage door, and to the right are two square-paned lattice casements with hanging wooden shutters, along with a small square window at the extreme right. The building sits on a random stone plinth with two small cellar lights featuring iron grills. The first floor showcases the large oversailing gable with fishscale tile-hanging, a plaster soffit with a moulded wooden cornice, and exposed vertical timber corner fillets. The central feature on this floor is a tripartite lattice casement, with a small attic window above in the gable to the left and a small lattice casement on the first floor beside the projecting gable feature to the right.
