Description

14 and 16 High Street are an early 19th century pair of terrace houses. The bright yellow brick facade is three storeys high. The ground floor has two sash windows and a door at each end. The first and second floors each have two sash windows. There is a smaller sash window on the third floor to the right. Two basement windows are present, each with an area in front and railings along the street. The building has projecting eaves and a gutter with a boarded soffit featuring small, coupled brackets. The hipped slate roof has a central brick stack. The sash windows have flat stucco arches above them and painted reveals. The panelled doors are framed by fluted pilastered doorcases, with fluted moulding around the frame and fanlights above, decorated with tracery. These doors are accessed via three stone steps. Stepped stucco dressings are above the fanlights. Nos 6 to 24 (even numbers) form a group.
