Description
23 High Street is an early 18th-century building with a three-window facade and two storeys. The structure is made of painted brick and features a stucco plinth. It has modillioned eaves and a gutter, with a hipped tiled roof sloping to the left, which includes two hipped tiled dormers that contain square-paned casements.
On the ground floor, there is a central glazed and panelled door set in a moulded frame, topped with a flat projecting dentilled hood supported by carved brackets. To the right of the door is a sash window with glazing bars, set under a flat segmental arch. To the left, there are double doors for the public house, which are glazed and flanked by side and top lights. Above the ground floor windows, there is a long painted signboard supported by carved and gilded brackets, with guttae at either end.
The first floor features three sash windows in moulded exposed frames, also with glazing bars. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 19 to 37 (odd).
