Description

No. 3 The Green is a mid-19th century tall house made of red brick, standing three storeys high with four windows. It features a moderately pitched slated roof with eaves supported by paired, pendanted wood brackets. Above the second-floor windows, there is roll moulding, and a band runs behind the cornice of the first-floor windows. All windows are sashes set within ornamental stucco surrounds, with those on the first floor having console bracketed cornices. The ground floor is rusticated and stuccoed, with pilasters that have foliated capitals, supporting a shop fascia board with a moulded cornice. There are two three-light shop windows with segmental heads. A recessed entrance is located between the shop windows, and to the left is a house door with five panels and a tall plain fanlight. A bootscraper is set into the plinth on the right. The building is listed for its group value and for its shop front. Nos. 1 to 3 and the Grasshopper Public House form a cohesive group.
