Description

An early 18th-century building altered in the early 19th century, Lockyer Place comprises two dwellings, each with two storeys and two windows. The building has a hipped tiled mansard roof with two small dormers, and windows that are mostly replaced casements, although No. 1 retains early 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars. The exterior is red brick with blue headers, and the windows are topped with gauged flat brick arches. No. 1 has an entrance on the west side and a small oriel shop window on the right. No. 2 has a six-panel door with the upper two panels glazed and flanked by panelled pilasters and a bracketed hood. Lockyer Place, along with Grosvenor House, Grosvenor House Cottages, and Nos. 1 and 2 Dale Cottages in Mill Street, form a notable group.
