Description
47 and 49 Lower Street are two houses, originally three separate dwellings, that were joined together. They date from around 1830 and are constructed of brick with a slate roof and brick end stacks. The buildings are two storeys high and feature a four-window range. The ground floor windows have rubbed brick flat arches with sharp angles over sash windows. No. 47 has 20th-century casements designed as 12-pane sashes, while there is a blind window above an elliptical-headed entry between Nos. 47 and 49. No. 49 has 16-pane sashes, but the left ground floor window is a 4-pane sash. Both houses have round-headed entrances with panelled doors. No. 49 has paired entrances with 20th-century doors, although the left entrance is not in use. This property is part of a row of six early 19th-century houses. The interior has not been inspected.
