Description
Lowlands is a house, now converted into flats, built around 1830 with later alterations. It is constructed of stuccoed brick and features a hipped slate roof, forming an L-plan. The building has two storeys and a four-window range. Architectural details include a top cornice and quoins.
On the ground floor, there is a casement window with stained glass, and at the right end, a two-storey polygonal bay window with entablatures on both floors and leaded glazing. The first floor has architraved windows with 12-pane horned sashes to the left of a similar stair window. The attic features a 6-pane sash window above the stair window and another to the right end.
The central entrance is marked by a long porch with a distyle-in-antis portico and glazed returns with stained glass, leading to glazed inner and outer doors. The left return has a five-window range, a first-floor sill course, a verandah to a French window, and a large bay to the left with a tripartite window, entablature, and casements. The first floor also has architraved windows with 12-pane sashes. The rear wing includes a tripartite sash and bay, while the right return has several sashed windows. The interior has not been inspected.
