Description
Nos 36 and 38 on Holywell Hill are two adjoining buildings from the later 18th century. No 36 is three storeys high and features three windows, with a moderately pitched tiled roof. The building is constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings and has a brick parapet. The windows have gauged, flat brick arches and are recessed, though the sashes have been replaced. The entrance has a doorcase with an open pediment and a cornice supported by fluted columns, leading to a door with six fielded panels, a cornice head, and a decorative fanlight.
No 38, also from the later 18th century, is two storeys tall with three windows and has an earlier gabled T-extension at the rear. It is made of brown brick with a parapet and has a high-pitched tiled roof. The first-floor sash windows are in slightly recessed, moulded frames, although the centre window is blocked. The ground floor windows have modern glazing. The entrance is located on the left and features a doorcase with an open pediment and a cornice head, supported by fluted and reeded columns, leading to a door with a decorative fanlight.
Nos 36 to 58 (even) form a group.
