Description

A barn dating to the 17th century, situated adjacent to Mileham Farm House to the south-east. The barn is timber framed and clad in weatherboards, with a stone plinth. It has a plain tile roof. The structure comprises three timber-framed bays, including a rear aisle and a central midstrey, with a half-hipped roof. A central pair of double doors provides access. A rear porch, rising from the aisle, features a jettied half-hipped roof and full-height double doors. Internally, the barn displays long, chamfered cut jowls to the principal posts. Further features include arch-braced tie-beams, a clasped-purlin roof with diminishing principal rafters, vertical queen struts to the collar, and windbraces. The arcade plate has virtually straight arch braces and is not morticed for partition. A face-halved wall-plate scarf joint is present. A 20th-century floor completes the interior.
