Description

The Nook and Landways is a pair of houses, originally built as a single house, dating from the 18th century, with an addition from the early to mid-19th century. The ground floor of the main part is made of painted brick, while the first floor features tile-hanging at the front and weatherboarding on the gable ends. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The front wing has painted brick on the left side, red and grey brick in Flemish bond on the right side, and channelled render on the front on both floors, topped with a slate roof.

The main range is slightly set back from the road, with the 19th-century wing extending forward to the right of the center. The main range has two storeys and a garret, while the wing has two storeys. The main range features a half-hipped gambrel roof, and the wing has a hipped roof with a much lower ridge. A brick ridge stack with a brick datestone or panel is located to the left of the center of the main range.

The windows are arranged irregularly, with two casements: one three-light towards the left end of the main range and one two-light on the front gable end of the wing. Additionally, there is one two-light casement towards the left end of the main range and two twelve-pane sashes on the front gable end of the wing. There are no windows on the sides of the wing. The entrance to The Nook features a door with six sunk moulded panels and a flat floating hood, located at the left end of the main range. The entrance to Landways has a similar door under a flat-roofed wooden porch with tapering posts at the center of the front gable end of the wing. There is a blocked doorway at the right end of the main range, as well as lean-tos at the left table end and the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
