Description

Former Laddingford Farm Cottages, now a pair of houses, date from the 18th century or possibly earlier, with a late 18th century or early 19th century addition and facade. The ground floor of the main part is made of red and grey brick, while the first floor of the main range and both floors of the addition are tile-hung. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The main range is built at right angles to the road, facing south, with the addition extending forward from the right end.

The main range has two storeys and a garret, while the addition has two storeys. It features a steeply-pitched half-hipped roof on the main range and a half-hipped roof at the front end of the addition. There is a multiple red and grey brick ridge stack towards the left end of the main range and a projecting red and grey brick stack at the front gable end of the addition. The windows are arranged irregularly, with five casements: one three-light window to the left of the main range, one single light under the stack, one three-light window to the right, and a regular two-window front of three-light casements on the long left side of the addition.

The door to Japonica Cottage is boarded and located to the left of the stack, while Peg Tile Cottage has a door with flush panels and a flat hood at the centre of the long left side of the addition. There is a brick lean-to on the left gable end of the main range and a rear lean-to on each range. The interior has not been inspected.
