Description
House. Probably dating from the early 19th century, with additions from the early to mid-19th century and 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of stone rubble, with roughcast rendering. The roof is covered with bitumenized slate, featuring ridge tiles and gable ends. Brick chimney shafts are situated on gable ends. The original layout consisted of two rooms, the central entrance now directly accessing the room on the right, with the former partition wall removed. One room remains to the left, and each is heated by a gable-end stack. A single-room kitchen wing was added to the rear right in the late 19th century, with its own gable-end chimney. Around the middle of the 19th century, a wing was added to the rear left, forming a short row of two cottages, each with a two-room plan. The front facade is two storeys high, with a symmetrical three-window arrangement. All windows are 20th-century replacements featuring 16 panes and pivoting action. A central 19th-century six-panel door is present, with the right end being blank. The rear of the main range features a blocked doorway with a six-pane light inserted. The two-storey kitchen wing to the left has a two-light casement in the gable end at ground and first floor, along with a 20th-century shed attached. An oven projection and a 20th-century door are on the inner side. Attached to the right is a lower two-storey range of cottages, with axial stacks featuring brick shafts. There are random doors and windows, with a 19th-century two-light, eight-pane casement at ground and first floor on the left, along with a plank door. A blocked doorway and a second plank door are positioned to the right, with a 20th-century door at the end. The rear end of this range has a hipped roof with a 19th-century single casement at ground floor and a six-pane sash at first floor. The interior was not inspected.
