Description
The Hollies is a house that possibly dates back to the early 18th century, with alterations made around the mid to late 19th century and a few later changes. It is constructed of slatestone rubble, with the first floor at the front rendered. The roof is made of scantle slate, featuring ridge tiles and gable ends, with gable end stacks that have brick shafts.
The house has a large two-room plan, which may include a small unheated room at the rear center or a large central entrance hall. Each of the main rooms on the right and left is heated by a gable end stack. The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 20th-century replacement sashes. The ground floor features a central 19th-century four-panelled and glazed door with panelled reveals and pilasters, flanked by 20-pane sashes on either side. The first floor has three 16-pane sashes and a 20th-century rooflight to the left. The rest of the house was not accessible during the survey in September 1987.
The interior was not inspected, but it may still have notable features such as a panelled door and staircase.
