Description
Brooklyn is a house likely built around the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and a few later changes. The structure is made of stone rubble and pebbledash, topped with a slurried scantle slate roof that features ridge tiles and gable ends. There is a gable end stack with a brick shaft on the right and another stack with a brick shaft rising from the rear slope of the roof on the left.
The house has a double depth plan, with a central entrance leading to principal rooms of equal size on the front right and left, and shallow service rooms at the rear. The exterior is two storeys high and features a nearly symmetrical three-window front. On the ground floor, there is a central 20th-century half-glazed door flanked by 19th-century pilasters and a plain cornice. To the right and left of the door are 19th-century 12-pane sash windows. The first floor has three 19th-century 16-pane sash windows, arranged nearly symmetrically.
The interior was not accessible during the survey in September 1987, but it may still have notable features such as panelled doors and a staircase.
