Description

Brouard Cottage is a house that likely dates from the mid 18th century, with some alterations and additions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from stone rubble and roughcast, topped with an asbestos slate roof that has ridge tiles and gable ends. The building features a gable end stack on the left, which has a 20th-century brick chimney.

The layout consists of a two-room plan with a central entrance. There is one room on the right and one on the left, with the left room heated by the gable end stack. The right room has a bay added at the front, though its purpose is unclear. At the rear left, there is a service wing, likely from the mid 19th century, which is also heated by a gable end stack.

The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical three-window front. On the ground floor, there is a central 19th-century panelled and glazed door, with a 16-pane sash window to the left. The first floor features two 19th-century two-light 8-pane casements. The bay on the right is shallow and two-storey, with the main roof's pitch extended over it; it has a 16-pane sash window on the ground floor and a two-light 8-pane casement on the first floor. The left end has a late 19th-century four-pane sash window on the first floor to the right. The rear wing is single-storey with a loft above, featuring a 19th-century two-light 5-pane casement on the first floor and a single-storey lean-to on the outer side. There is also a 20th-century porch with a two-light casement and a door set at an angle to the main range.

The interior is not accessible but may still have internal features from the 18th century.
