Description
Water Lane Cottages is a house, now a row of houses, with an early 19th century facade that may cover an earlier building. The right section was added in the later 19th century. The ground floor features red brick in Flemish bond on the left section and a chequered pattern of red and grey brick on the right. The first floor is weatherboarded, and the gable ends are tile-hung. The roof is covered with plain tiles and the building has two storeys plus a garret. There is a projecting brick stack at the rear of the left gable, a brick ridge stack that was likely originally projecting but is now positioned to the right of center, and a projecting rear stack on the right. The windows are irregularly arranged with three casements: one 2-light and one 3-light on the left section, and one 3-light on the right. There is a boarded door to No. 2 towards the left end, and the door to No. 1 is located at the rear to the right. The building was formerly known as Cranmore Cottages.
