Description

Glebe Cottage, Heron Cottage, and Church Cottage are a row of houses located on Church Walk in Headcorn. They date from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The buildings are timber framed, with the left half of the ground floor featuring channelled render. There is a small panel to the left of a red brick stack, which is laid in stretcher bond with thin studs. The ground floor of the right end bay is also red brick in stretcher bond. The first floor has plain tile-hanging on the left, fishscale tiles in the center, and 20th-century applied close studding with rendered infilling on the right end bay. The right gable end is adorned with fishscale tiles. The houses are two storeys high with a garret and have a steeply pitched half-hipped roof. There is a projecting brick stack on the left gable and a ridge stack towards the right end. The fenestration is irregular, consisting of four casements: two 2-light and two 3-light. There is a rear door to No. 11 on the right, and two adjacent doors towards the left end; the door to No. 13 is boarded, while the door to No. 12 is ribbed and features a moulded wooden architrave with a flat floating hood. There is also a rear lean-to. The interior has not been inspected.
