Description

Hillside Cottages is a row of houses dating from the 18th century, with the central section possibly being older. The ground floor is constructed of red and grey brick in Flemish bond, while the first floor is weatherboarded. The building has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys high with attics on a rendered plinth. It features gabled ends and has a projecting brick gable end stack on the left, a multiple brick stack slightly to the left of centre, and a brick gable end stack on the right. There are three flat-roofed two-light dormers, with two on the left and one on the right end. The windows are irregularly arranged, consisting of five paned wooden casements, with two three-light casements on each side of the stack and one two-light casement between the two right windows. There are four doors with flush panels; the doors for Nos. 1 and 2 are located between the two left first-floor windows, while the doors for Nos. 3 and 4 are between the two right three-light first-floor windows, with a two-light casement above the door to No. 4. There is a blocked doorway under the stack. A short gabled two-storey addition, built with similar materials, is set back from each gable end, with the right addition featuring a two-light casement. A rear lean-to is also present. The interior has not been inspected.
