Description
Stephen's Bridge is a road bridge built in a medieval style, located on Headcorn Water Lane. It is constructed from ragstone and features a cambered design with two plain-chamfered segmental arches. The bridge has a plain parapet with renewed brick coping. To the east, there is a cutwater that rises to create a refuge, which includes a seat or partial infilling within the parapet. The west retaining wall is supported by three buttresses. The bridge is said to be named after Archbishop Stephen Langton, who built the original bridge on this site.
