Description
This is a barn located about 10 metres north of Stockyard Cottage, dating from the late 18th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, standing on a brick and stone plinth. The barn consists of three timber-framed bays and features a rear aisle. It has a half-hipped plain tile roof with a central hipped canopy and a lean-to on the right side.
Inside, the barn has arch-braces supporting the tie-beams and the arcade plate. The principal posts have long cut jowls, and the roof is constructed with staggered butt purlins and vertical queen-struts supporting the rafters below the purlins, with collars positioned above the purlins. The two outer bays contain an intermediate truss with a collar and shorter purlins, but no tie-beam. The right (east) bay has lath and plaster infilling above the midrail. A tie-beam is dated 179(-?).
