8/104 Empire Cottage, No. 3 and Gallery (formerly 26.4.68. listed as The Butcher's Shop and Empire House.) GV II

House, now house row. C17 or earlier. Timber-framed. Ground floor clad in painted brick in Flemish bond, first floor tile- hung. Plain tile roof. Range parallel to street with broad wing to left, projecting slightly to front. Wing 2 storeys, rest 2 storeys and attic. Wing gabled to street with eaves lower than main range. Large projecting rear stack on stone base to centre of main range and another projecting external stack to right side of wing. Small hipped dormer. Irregular fenestration of 4 windows; one 2-light C19 casement to wing and 3 glazing-bar sashes to main range. Half-glazed and panelled door to Empire Cottage in left side elevation and C20 ribbed door to No. 3 towards left end of main range. Single storey C19 addition to right with 14-pane shop window and half- glazed door. Interior not inspected.
