Description

This building, known as Supply Stores, Supply Stores House, Lower Flat Oast View, and Upper Flat Oast View, is a house that has been converted into flats and a shop. It features a late 18th-century facade that covers an earlier structure and is timber-framed. The front elevation is clad in painted mathematical tiles, while the left side is tile-hung. The right side of the wing is rendered and weatherboarded, and the roof is covered with plain tiles. The building runs parallel to the street with a cross wing that projects to the front at the right end. It has two storeys and an attic, with a moulded wood eaves cornice. The wing displays moulded bargeboards that form a pedimented gable, and the roof is half-hipped to the left. A brick ridge stack is located at the right end of the main range, and there is a very tall 20th-century dormer to the left of the stack. The wing features a segmental-headed attic casement. The main range has regular fenestration with two glazing-bar sashes, while the wing has two close-set sashes. The central door of the main range has six fielded panels and two top lights, flanked by fluted Doric pilasters, a plain frieze, and a flat hood with a dentilled cornice. The ground floor of the wing includes a late 19th-century shop front. At the rear, there is a tile-hung lean-to with a short, two-storey weatherboarded central wing, which may have served as a stair turret. The interior has not been inspected.
