Description
Brook House is a house dating from the early 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick in Flemish bond, with the left side elevation featuring red brick with occasional grey headers also in Flemish bond. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has two storeys and attics on a plinth, with a plat band above the windows. The eaves project and have flat soffits. The roof is hipped to the left, with the hip returning along the left return wing, and is angled along the right side elevation. There is a brick stack on the front slope of the roof at the right end and one hipped dormer. The building has a regular arrangement of two glazing-bar sash windows in open boxes just below the eaves. The ground-floor windows feature segmental brick voussoirs with raised brick keystones. The central panelled door has a rectangular light above, also with a segmental head and raised keystone. It is framed by a 19th-century architrave with fluted pilasters and patterae. The right return wing is at a 45-degree angle and is built with the same materials. The left return wing has red and grey brick on the ground floor, with tile-hanging above. The interior has not been inspected.
