Description
The Old Bakery is a building that originally served as a vicarage and later as a bakery, now functioning as a house. It dates from the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. The structure is timber framed, with the front elevation and the front half of the side elevations finished in red brick laid in Flemish bond. The rear half of the left side elevation is tile-hung, while the right side is rendered. The roof is covered with plain tiles and features two storeys and attics set on a brick plinth, which has a plat band in header bond and a modillioned wooden eaves cornice. The gables of the roof are brick-coped, supported by brick corbels at the base. There are red brick gable end stacks, with the left stack being truncated. The building has two hipped dormers and a regular arrangement of windows, including two tripartite glazing-bar sashes and one central glazing-bar sash. The ground floor windows are adorned with rubbed brick voussoirs. The central entrance door consists of six fielded panels and is topped by a four-light rectangular fanlight, framed by a moulded architrave and a broken triangular pediment supported by curved brackets. The interior has not been inspected.
