Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a house that dates back to the 17th century and was remodelled and extended to the right in the mid-18th century. The left side was originally timber framed, with exposed principals and a cambered tie-beam in the left gable wall. The building features Flemish bond brickwork with flared headers, an old tile roof, and a brick stack. The original bay on the left has been extended to create a two-unit house on the right. The cottage has one storey and an attic on the left and two storeys on the right, with a three-window range on the extended section. There are segmental header arches over a 20th-century door and flanking casements on the right, while soldier arches are present over inserted 20th-century casements on the left. The first floor features 20th-century casements. The roof is gabled and half-hipped, with a ridge stack on the right and a half-hipped roof on the left. A 18th-century two-light leaded casement is located in the left gable wall. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
