Description
Truelock's Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse, now a house, located on Wantage Harcourt Road in Charlton. The front is roughcast over English bond brick, topped with an old tile roof and features brick stacks. The building has a two-unit plan with a rear left outshut and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. There is a central 20th-century door and porch, with segmental arches above late 19th-century three-light casements. The eaves are dentilled, and the gabled roof has gable end stacks, including an external right stack with a projecting bread oven. A 19th-century plank door leads to the rear. Inside, there are late 19th-century panelled doors, and the room to the right contains a complete set of plain beams and joists, along with a chamfered bressumer over an open fireplace. Timber framing is visible at the rear left of the first floor. The roof has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
