Description
Maple Cottage is a house, possibly a fragment, dating from the 17th century with early 19th century alterations. It is timber framed, featuring red brick infilling in stretcher bond on the ground floor and weatherboarding on the first floor. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has two storeys plus an attic, set on a stone plinth. The ground floor has broadly-spaced studding, and there is a continuous jetty supported by moulded brackets, which is underbuilt at the right end. The roof is half-hipped to the left, and there is a multiple brick ridge stack at the right end. A 20th century flat-roofed dormer window with four lights is present, along with irregular fenestration that includes two 2-light leaded casements. A 20th century ribbed door is located at the left end of the front elevation. There is a rear lean-to, possibly from the 17th century, and a later lean-to to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
