Description
Poplar Tree Cottages is a farmhouse that has been converted into cottages. It dates from the 17th century or earlier, with a later 19th-century facade. The building is timber framed, with the front elevation covered in thick bands of plain and fishscale tiles. The right gable end is weatherboarded, and it has a plain tile roof. The structure is two storeys tall, sitting on a stone plinth, and features a boxed wood eaves cornice. The roof is half-hipped with gablets. There is a slender projecting brick stack on the left gable end and an off-centre ridge stack on the right. The windows are irregularly arranged and consist of three 6-pane glazing-bar sashes. A recessed panelled door, framed by plain pilasters, a frieze, and a pediment, is located between the left and central windows. There is a blocked doorway beneath the stack and a 20th-century glazed door on the right gable end. The building has later two-storey rear extensions on both the right and left sides. The interior has not been inspected.
