Description
The Post Office Stores and House Attached is a house and shop located on Church Street in Teston, dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of painted brick, with the left gable end featuring a chequered pattern of red and grey brick. It has a plain tile roof and is situated on a canted corner site, comprising two storeys and a garret. The left section has no plinth, while the right section has a painted stone plinth. The roof is gabled, and there are rear stacks on both the left and right sides.
The windows display irregular fenestration, with two horizontally-sliding sashes featuring segmental heads, one positioned towards the outer end of each section. The ground floor has slightly larger similar windows, along with a small single light with a segmental head at the right end of the longer left section. A boarded door is located under a flat corniced hood at the left end of the right section.
There is a late 19th-century two-storey addition to the right, made of painted brick and topped with a slate roof, which has no windows. The ground-floor shop front consists of two vertical lights on either side of a half-glazed door, all beneath a continuous consoled wooden cornice. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
