Description

The Old Bakehouse is a house and shop located on Broughton High Street, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of colourwashed brick and features a slate roof. The building is two stories high with five wide bays. There is a 20th-century door beneath a moulded gabled hood in the left of the centre bay, and double doors in a segmental opening in the right bay. The centre bay and most of the bays on either side have a 19th-century shop front with eight large-pane windows on each side of a brick panel, all beneath a cornice. To the right of the centre bay is a 20th-century 16-pane sash window, while the left bay contains a 19th-century 16-pane sash window with a segmental head. On the first floor, there are five 16-pane sash windows. The roof has a stack at the left end and another to the right of the centre.
