Description
Clifton Cottage and Glin Cottage, along with part of Grannon, are a pair of semi-detached cottages dating from the mid-18th century, with some alterations that may indicate an earlier construction. The cottages feature a mix of brickwork that is part pebble-dashed and part color-washed, topped with an old plain tile roof. The structure consists of seven bays, with two stories and an attic. The left cottage, Clifton, has five bays, while the right cottage, Glin, has two wide bays.
The entrances are located at the inside of the end bays. The left cottage has a four-panel door that is sheltered by a tented lead hood. On both floors of each cottage, there are three-light casements in the third bay from the left, which are leaded. The narrow central bays contain one and two-light leaded 18th-century iron windows, suggesting that these bays may have once functioned as a separate cottage.
The right bays of Glin Cottage feature a 20th-century glazed door under an open gabled timber porch, with a cartwheel window above it. Most of the windows in this section are 20th-century two-light casements, except for the bottom right window, which is a 19th-century feature belonging to Grannon, the cottage to the right, and has a flying freehold.
