Description
56 Guildhall Street is a house and shop, now functioning solely as a house, dating from the early 19th century. It features a painted brick front and a slate roof, with two storeys and a cellar. The building has a two-window range, showcasing 16-pane sash windows set in flush cased frames. To the right of the central entrance door is a similar sash window, while to the left is a three-light 19th-century shop window complete with a cornice and fascia. The entrance consists of a six-panelled door within a plain wood surround, topped by a blank semicircular fanlight. There is a footscraper located to the right of the door. Inside, the cellar has old render on the walls and a wide stone-lined niche on the rear wall. The house does not exhibit any visible older core.
