Description
This barn, located about 33 metres north of Chegworth Manor Farmhouse, was built in 1759. It features a timber frame that is weatherboarded and sits on a stone plinth. The roof is made of corrugated iron, with a half-hipped design on the left side and a hipped design on the right. The barn has central double doors and an additional side door to the right, and it is positioned at right angles to the road. Inside, there are five timber-framed bays and a rear aisle. The structure includes arch-braced principal posts with cut jowls, staggered butt purlins, high collars, and queen struts that are raked to the principal rafters. Some parts of the roof and some of the studding have been replaced. The tie-beam is dated 1759. This barn is included for its group value.
