Description

Hinkley is an early to mid 19th century building located on Sea Street in Herne Bay. It is two storeys high with attics and features a stuccoed exterior, while the ground floor is rusticated. The roof is half-hipped and covered with slate, and it has three curved dormers. The building has long and short quoins, some of which are vermiculated, along with a vermiculated stringcourse. There are three sash windows with intact glazing bars, set within moulded architraves that have stops. The central entrance features a round-headed doorcase in a Gibbs surround, topped with a semi-circular fanlight, and there are steps leading up to the street. Hinkley and No 40 are part of a group that includes Nos 24 and 26 York Road.
