Description

Nos 1 and 2 St Margaret's Street is a 16th-century timber-framed building that has been plastered over. It stands two storeys high and features two gables with a moulded eaves cornice. The roof is restored and tiled. The building is supported by three curved brackets, two of which are finely carved to resemble beasts. The gables contain two 18th-century sash windows with intact glazing bars. On the first floor, there are two canted bay windows, with the right side bay lacking glazing bars. The ground floor has later shopfronts. This building forms a group with No 23 Watling Street.
