Description
This is an early 18th-century timber-framed building, originally with two storeys, a basement, and attics. It is faced with painted brick and has an old tiled gambrel roof with two restored dormers. The front has four sash windows with moulded architraves. The first floor overhangs the ground floor. The ground floor features two slightly canted bays, each with three lights. The doorcases have vestigial cornices, plain console brackets, pilasters, panelled reveals, rectangular fanlights, and six-fielded-panelled doors, all accessed by three stone steps and featuring footscrapers. The interior retains some simple panelling. The cellar contains one pier from a Roman Theatre. Numbers 24 to 27 Watling Street form a group.
