Description
Nos 26 and 28 Northgate Street is a 16th-century timber-framed and plastered building that has undergone significant alterations. It stands two storeys high with attics and features a three-window range. The first storey has casements, while the ground storey includes a double-hung sash window without glazing bars and a 18th-century six-panel door with a moulded wood architrave, alongside a small 20th-century shop front. The gable end facing Old Foundry Road has one double-hung sash window with glazing bars. The roof is tiled, partly from the 20th century, and has two flat-headed dormers. This building is part of a group of listed buildings in Northgate Street, which includes the Great White Horse Hotel on Tavern Street and several properties on St Margaret's Plain.
